Rachel started performing poetry at University, part of the Budding Tongues film at Boddington Festival in Manchester and runner up at Night and Day cafe slam.   She appeared at poetry events across the Midlands, including feature slots.  


She was runner up in Buddhafield Poetry Slam 2010 and for her Eco poem in Sutton Poetry Slam 2014.  A gigging stand up comedian, she moved into focussing on spoken word in 2012 after moving to London.   She told stories at Natural Born Storytellers and In a Nutshell, gigging as a performance poet across London.  In 2013 she founded Words Aloud, a spoken word event in Sutton Library which has been going from strength to strength, funded by Arts Network Sutton, Sutton London Borough and is now part of the Cultural Programme at Sutton Libraries. 

After being Artist in Residence for Apples and Snakes SPINE festival in 2015, she toured children’s comedy poetry collection and storytelling show ‘The Strangest Sandwich in the World’ 2015 to Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Winchester Book Festival and Sutton Theatres. I


She was awarded an Arts Council England grant to develop solo show ‘Eve and All Our Grandmothers’, mentored by Francesca Beard, which has successfully piloted at Sutton Libraries on a small tour.  Then in 2018, she toured the show as 'Stand By Your Nan' with Arts Council England funding across 10 community venues in London.  This culminated in a Poetry Cafe show that received a 4 Star review from Londontheatre1.com
